Seven Steps to a Special Needs Plan

If you have a child with special needs, or work with clients who have children with special needs, you will learn the steps needed to properly plan for the family’s estate and financial issues. Included in this seminar will be information on finding the right advisors to help you, creating a life care plan, building a will or living trust, understanding how government benefits work, establishing special needs trusts, determining how to fund the special needs trust, and considering the need for guardianship or guardianship alternatives.

Autism Screening and Consultation Forum

The First Day: Easter Seals and the University of Washington will provide free autism assessments for parents who suspect their children may be on the autism spectrum. University of Washington clinicians will conduct a non-invasive assessment for infants under 30 months of age. Older children will receive the Social Communication Questionnaire (SCQ). Children of all ages, infants to teenagers, will be assessed.

The Second Day: Families with positive assessments from the first day will spend 30 minutes with a University of Washington clinician to discuss the next steps.

All services are free to charge and on a first come, first served basis.

"YATE" is PAVE's annual conference. It is designed for families of children with disabilities, advocates, educators, professionals and others to meet and interact with each other and gather valuable information.

The keynote speaker is Roberto Rivera who credits his transformation from being a disengaged student, teen-aged run away, and drug dealer to being an honors graduate and successful businessman as a result of having key relationships and discovering his genius through his experience with "real" Hip-hop.

"Ascending the Summit-Mental Health in Autism and other Developmental Disorders"

National Association for people with Developmental Disabilities (NADD) supports the inclusion of persons with disabilities, their families, as well as staff members. To this end, a limited umber of scholarships are available to help defray the cost of this conference for those who would otherwise not be able to attend. This support is expected to be in the form of a registration reduction or waiver, and requests for other assistance will be considered.
